Earlier this week we were pleasantly surprised to see the government has allowed the RFU to move to Stage E on the Return to Community Rugby Roadmap. We were at Stage D prior to Lockdown II.
In practical terms this means the return of adapted contact rugby (no scrums, mauls, or choke tackles), tag rugby for (U5-U8), and the removal of player-to-pitch ratios.
The latter development means that we can now revert back to minis training at Chesterton operating on a concurrent basis rather than having two sessions, and the ability for two teams (rather than just one) to use the 3G pitch at Whitelands on weekday evenings.
We have updated our BRUFC COVID19 info pack with the revised RFU guidance.
You will still need to complete the Test and Trace form prior to every training session.
Social distancing before, during (for spectators), and after training must be maintained. With clear space between groups of six when pitch-side.
Junior Boys (U14+), Girls (U13/15), and Seniors will train on the weekends at the Bicester School, and weekday evenings at Whitelands. Coaches and Team Admins will share session times/locations within their individual Spond groups.
On Sundays at Chesterton (Minis): to avoid congestion in the car park and entry to the site, we are staggering start times as follows:
10:00 — U5, U6, U7
10:10 — U8, U9, U10
10:20 — U11, U12, U13
Pitch use at Chesterton will revert to pre-COVID-19 allocations.
Fixtures may resume from 18 December. This will be at the individual discretion of team admins/coaches. We do not have a Fixture Secretary at Senior, Junior or Mini level and are looking for volunteers to step forward. Please contact Katie Gambrill (email@example.com), copying in Craig (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you are willing to take on the role, indicating at which level (Minis, Juniors, Seniors).
Thank you everyone for your understanding and steadfast support over what has been a difficult nine months for the club. We are hopeful that we can now continue rugby uninterrupted until the end of the season – which the RFU has generously extended to the end of May.
