Bicester Mens Senior Rugby bid farewell to this season last night, with a friendly against the Army, with a mixed squad from Bicester coming a close and respectable second to a team made up from the Royal Logistics Corps (30-35).

The game epitomised everything that rugby is all about and reminded me why I do this.

With a packed touchline, the game was preceded by a two minute silence, honouring a fallen member of the Army team, and then kept us all on tenterhooks throughout, with stunning displays of skills from both sides.

As Chairman, I want to thank the rugby community for coming together and making this happen, from the Army for putting together such a testing squad, to the dozens of spectators who came down to support and enjoy it. A BIG shoutout to Oxford Harlequins for hosting us at their Horspath ground at such short notice, to the OSFR for providing us with Granville Williams to referee and who kept the game flowing under the challenging COVID variant rules, but most of all to our players and coaches who have been turning up to training without any league games to look forward to.

Here's looking forward to next season #UpTheFoxes
